Above all, as a Cosmetic dentist I feel that keeping patient’s opinion, his/her personality in mind while designing the same is of utmost importance apart from following the principles of smile designing.

At Exl Dentist we follow a workflow pattern to achieve the best, ethical, predictable and above all long lasting results of our smile and to enhance our confidence while flashing our smile to the world.

It’s basically a five-appointment workflow pattern that we follow:

First Appointment:

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLANNING

Firstly, after making the patient comfortable and relaxed in our dental office, I just sit and have a casual talk with my patient to get to know about his/her expectations, point of view and put across mine too to know their opinion. After all, at the end of the day, it’s your smile and you have to wear it post treatment.

Once done, we move forward to the operatory and make few videos and photographs for record purpose and also to evaluate the smile in relation to the face and gums further.

Further the diagnostic impressions and bite records are made.

Second Appointment

MOCK UP PREPERATION

Before the second appointment we do our homework of evaluating the above collected records and as a clinician which ones will give the best possible solution.

Also, if possible the mock up preparation is done on cast of the patient or on the software to give the patient an idea beforehand of the treatment. Here if the patient desires, they can tweak as per their choice.

During the appointment we firstly explain all the possible solutions with pros and cons of each. If possible the mock up preparation is shown on patient’s mouth as well.

The usual treatment solutions based on individual dental issues to achieve a harmonious and a beautiful smile are:

–        Orthodontic braces/ Invisalign

–        The above treatment can be or cannot be followed by direct or indirect veneers for altering the shape and shade of the teeth if desired.

–        Direct veneers

–        Indirect veneers

–        Crowns

–        Replacing missing teeth with implants or bridges

–        Performing RCT for dark/non vital teeth

Third Appointment:

Depending on the choice of treatment we agree upon, the next appointment is taken forward.

If the best option possible is veneers and/or crowns

The tooth preparation is done keeping in mind the principles of same and also the final result in mind to get the best fit, shape and esthetics.

A perfect impression is made with silicon-based impression material and bite registration is done.

The final shade of the veneer or crown is selected keeping in mind patient’s opinion.

Temporary crowns or veneers are made and are temporarily fixed.

Fourth Appointment

The temporary crowns or veneers are removed and trials of the same are done. We have to check the fit, shape, shade and bite of new restorations. Once satisfied, we give enough time to the patients as well to evaluate all these things.

The final fixing with an adhesive is done once all the criteria fit in perfectly. Cleaning and polishing are done post final fixing.

Fifth Appointment:

Patient is recalled for follow ups where in the bite, health of the gums, any patient queries are checked.
