FACT CHECKED

At EXL Dentist, we understand the importance of a bright and confident smile. Our goal is to provide high-quality dental care to our patients and help them achieve their desired smile.

Recently, we had a patient named Vanya who came to us with a chief complaint of teeth discoloration and wanted to get her teeth whitened before a modelling shoot.

As a responsible dental practice, we believe in educating our patients about their oral health and the procedures they undergo. Vanya, being a curious person, asked us about the possible reasons for tooth discoloration. We explained to him that tea and coffee, tobacco, diet, trauma to the tooth, tetracycline stains, enamel hypoplasia, and various other factors can lead to tooth discoloration.

We then went on to explain the Procedure of laser whitening to Vanya.

The laser whitening procedure takes approximately 45-60 minutes. Its starts with scaling and polishing followed by application of the whitening solution, and three cycles of laser for activation of whitening solution. Protecting the soft tissues by applying gum dams and cotton rolls is made sure. The results of the procedure may vary from person to person and may require multiple appointments for the desired outcome.

While the procedure is painless and provides quicker results, it is also technique-sensitive and cannot be performed on teeth with existing restorations. Additionally, some patients may experience transient sensitivity post-procedure, but it usually fades away within 48-72 hours.

We informed Vanya that teeth whitening is not a permanent solution, and the results may last between 10-12 months, depending on the patient oral habits. Despite the possible cons, Vanya was satisfied with the explanation and underwent the procedure with us.

At EXL Dentist, we strive to provide the best dental care to our patients and make their dental journey as comfortable as possible.
